  1. 36-meter Classic Gentleman's Motoryacht by A Mylne & Co

The yacht is Codenamed PF36 and the Naval Architecture company A Mylne & Co have been discreetly working on this project and now detailed information has become available. An interesting fact about A Mylne & Co is that the firm is the oldest continually designing naval architecture office in the world. The Gentleman's motoryacht, dubbed 'PF36', is a retro styled motor yacht that has been designed to take it's owner around the world in comfort and style, without damaging the owner's environmental credentials.

The classic luxury yacht will be a single-screw vessel. Propulsion will be with a Grenaa 6 cylinder engine delivering a maximum of 600BHP at 500 RPM. This large and robust unit (weighing in at over 8 tonnes) meets Tier II emissions requirements, and provides the yacht with a beating heart unlike any other yacht being built today. In fact it was a requirement of the design that the gentle beat of the engine was just audible throughout the yacht.

For a myriad of uses, the 36-meter yacht will have a number of tenders: two specially designed aluminum 5.5m yacht tenders, electrically powered, and bearing an unmistakable classic planing shape, on the main deck there will be an International 14 sailing dingy on the aft deck, and a general use diesel powered fast crew boat.

On the inside, the set up is old world. Interior design is by renowned Scottish designer Malcolm Duffin. Malcolms' brief was to create a clean classic interior reminiscent of classic Mylne sailing and motor yachts. After months of research, design and discussion, Malcolm and his team have created a stunning interior which relies on simplicity and almost Calvanistic austerity in its form and function, leaving the owner (a collector of marine antiquities) to embellish the yacht in his own personal manner once he takes full ownership.

The owner's tastes for antiques is reflected in the style of the yacht, but also in the many re-claimed and re-cycled fittings being used on board. The windows, bridge equipment, winches and fittings are almost all recovered pieces, and their use not only creates an authentic pre-war feel, but gives the project further "green" credentials. Construction is expected to start later this year and the Gentleman's yacht could deliver in 2014.
