Been bugging me for awhile. Small old pump near one of the Racor filters appears to be fed from one of the fuel tanks. On its output side has about a 3 ft. capped fuel line that just hangs there. Below is a momentary switch that when turned on causes the pump to make a clicking sound. Anyone care to guess what the pump is for ? I'm thinking maybe just to top off diesel when changing a filter.

Your on it. The clicking sound is the pump trying to run but dead-heading into the capped out line.
A little disposable in-line fuel filter rite before the pump and have a shut of valve at the tank outlet would be good to have there also.

You could get froggy and plumb it in before the Racors and have a total fuel priming system.

Priming pump. Comes in handy when changing filters. I had a similar setup before i decided to plumb permanently with valves.
