Having issues with the LP fuel pump. The engine was running at about 1600 rpm and the fuel pressure dropped off to 0. We were then not able to restart it.

Removed the fuel piping. Removed the cover of the pump and barred the engine whilst looking at the open pump. Absolutely no movement whatsoever. I then removed the fuel pump to check the gears and rotate it by hand. It all moves freely and there are no visible signs of damage. Has anyone else had similar issues in the past?

    Many thanks in advance

I know of an 8v 2000 that sheared the fuel pump drive on the end of the camshaft off. Repair is a major event

I am investigating an engine failure on a V10 2000 MTU. Fuel pressure also dropped out & engine stopped. We found that the Idler gear that drives the Circ Pump & Fuel pump has had a major failure. The idler gear has cracked in the first instance & gradually the crack has opened up until complete failure of the gear. I would be interested to hear what caused your failure.
