I'm still looking at mid 50's SF's. I'm trying to avoid MAN which is hard to do in this segment. There have been a couple of boats come up with MTU 12v2000 motors. I have no history with them and there is little discussion on boatdiesel. These are mid 2000 motors pre common rail.
Does anybody have any feedback on them? thanks.

I ran a set in a Hatteras 64' MY and they ran clean at all speeds. No issues with noise or vibration and were pretty good on fuel if I remember. They had a weird sequential turbo setup and on that boat when acceleration onto plane and to cruise, you'd get to 1950rpms and the one turbo would dropoff and the rpms would drop to 1850 until the next turbo kicked in and it started accelerating like a champ......the boat was very heavy and you probably wouldn't notice this in a SF. I haven't seen very many of these around.

The boat was a 2006. Not sure if they were common rail or not.
