I am starting to read and get into the world of boating and thought a nice way of involving family was taking them on day of half day charter out of Miami. Three adults two small children.

I guess start with a half day and another week go for a day and see if they enjoy it before I ask for a wife permit in getting a boat (30-40').

There are too many charter companies around and I thought of asking here for suggestions. Boat with its crew of course.

If the forum rules do not allow for suggestions on the the thread I guess you can PM me.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to YF JDR1000. I used to have such an operation down in Ft. Lauderdale back in the '90s and am in the process of setting one up here in the N/E at the present time. We're using a Formula 40PC that comes with captain. I also instruct on boat handling and am more than willing to teach while we cruise. My guess is that you're looking into something very similar down your way. What can I help you with?

We do day charters with The 70 footer I run but only during the winter season as the boat spends the summer in new England

Two suggestions: call Dave McDougal of www.sunshineboating.com. He is a very good day charter broker and knows his business. 305 970 2031.

A friend of mine has a 58 Hatteras which she charters (I often run the boat when the schedule of the 70 allows). Www.sanctuarycharteryacht.com

Miami is a great place for day charters as biscayne bay is a fantastic playground! But yes there are many unprofessional brokers, Dave is one of the best

I ll second that recommendation if you re looking for sail. Knight at Sea is 4 slips from me, Conrad is a very nice guy who knows his business.

Thank you all for your recommendations.

question: Is it me or do I see the same fleet on different places?

What I'm experiencing up here is that the brokers don't need exclusive arrangements. So you're bound to see the same charters represented by several brokers.

The day charter market is different from the term charter brokerage. Here in Miami there are about a dozen broker/sites who handle only/mostly day charters and you will find the same boats on an number of them. Some guys are better than others both in marketing and customer service
