    Hello:
We're in the final stages of purchasing a 2004 Meridian 411. We love the boats layout, look etc. and it is super clean with low hours (190) on Cummins 370's.
We took her on sea trial yesterday in flat waters out of Newport Beach and all went well, for the most part.
I do have a question for someone out there that might own one of these, at 2300 rpm we were cruising @ 14 to 15 kts, when we throttled her up to full speed, we topped out at 18 kts at 2500 rpms...that was it. Super smooth (almost glass) conditions. Is this the norm for this boat with these motors?
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

As I remember these engines should see around 3000+ RPMs at WOT, you dont say which 370 cummins model. At 2500 RPMs you are way off. The boat needs to be able to cruise comfortably on plane well off of WOT, below 80% of max fuel burn and preferably below 70%. You should in no way approve a sea trial without reaching rated WOT and an accpetable cruise speed. Another critical thing is to run at least 10 minutes at WOT and ensure no temperature creep occurs, the running temps should not go up at all if the cooling systems are working properly.

If you are 300 to 500 RPMs off of WOT, than the bottom and running gear are likely fouled and the boat mat be marginally powered in the first place. You need to ascertain the correct rated WOT values and ensure they are reached and if the boat has been run over propped for an extended period or if the boat is not able to achieve the above mentioned cruise speeds then you should walk away as in the long run this will be an expensive problem.
