Hi,I`m a Royal Navy Marine engineering trained Chief artificer living in Dubai. I would like to transfer my engineering experience into the Yachting world. I have a wealth of Marine engineering knowledge, including RR Gas turbines, diesels, hydraulics, compressors, pumps, power and distribution. I believe my skills and experience would be ideal ,as all Naval armed forces offer the latest technoligy. If any body could give me advice,or a career,in the Yachting industry, I would appreciate it. Kind regards, Bill
Hi, Welcome to Yacht Forums. Whilst you may have a wealth of experience and Royal Navy Qualifications under your belt you may well find it's an uphill battle to get qualifications that are acceptable to the MCA. There are many really good engineers out there who are overlooked by the fact that the MCA refuses to accept even UK Royal Naval Quals. and they don't have the "right" tickets. If you are serious about getting a good job contact the MCA and see if you get any exemptions and what is required for you to get a ticket.
Mca Hi, Thanks for your advice.I did contact the MCA 3 years ago,and I do have some excemptions to gain a 2nds ticket,But now need to do STCW 95 safety courses. Will try and find a company in Dubai who can fullfill this. Thanks once again, Kind regards, Bill
