Just purchased a 37' steel roamer. 2 questions. Any Ideas on how to find an original owners manual on the boat? The boat is equiped with Chris Craft 454's, however I don't see these listed as an original option. Does that mean it was repowered somewhere down the line?
I have an original owners manual for my 1961 35' Riviera, all 24 pages of it. Not much to it. It is very general and not specific to any model or engine. Not even any pictures or drawings in it. Mine was repowered from Chris-Craft 283's to MerCruiser 454's in 1990.
What year is your boat? I have the original manuals, drawings and blueprints for mine (1963 36-ft steel). If they will help, I can make copies. It sounds like you were repowered at some time. Better for you! Unless they pulled out diesels though...
To GMHand 28 - I assume your 37' is a 1965 to 1968 model. My guess is the 454 did not come out until 1970 in automotive, and probably later for marine. Thus, your boat has been repowered at some time. An engine manual would be helpful, I don't think there ever was much of a manual for the boat itself, though each of the systems (fresh water pump, etc) may have its own manual. The engine manual would be a good source for tune up specs, parts diagrams, etc., otherwise, most the info is the "usual common sense info which applies to all engines".
