    Hi,

I am working on the MAN D2842 L423, and as we test the engine, it gets very hard to get into the plane.
The exhaust temperature (EGT) when high up, as our record more than 820celsius and system went to remote slow down.

we went to 18-19knot during planing, 2000 rpm, and at that time, the engine smoke was black and thick.
we have tested 4 times already, and now our so called culprit is the EGT that wont let us when above 850c i supposed. it cuts down our rpm.

btw, we have unplugged the EGT sensor, and went on the cruise. we get 50 knot under 80% load for both engines. RPM was about 2100.

We have explored the mmds and we found the smoke map on the engine setting.

    0: standard
    1: slow
    2: fast.

does this affect the performance of the engine especially during "about to plane" stage.
We have set this to standard previously.

    Can someone here enlightened us.

    thanks a lot!!
