I spotted "Ronin", a 175' Lurssen at Bahia Mar shortly after the 2004 FLIBS Show. You can clearly see a little of Lurssen's military-based pedigree...

The aft staircases from the main deck are concealed behind the stern enclusures.

The wheelhouse is remeniscent of an airport control tower. Naval-like stansions facilitate views fore and aft.

Looking more like a Naval Frigate.... Ronin (the ex-Izanami) shows it's lineage with military like details that kloak it's luxury yacht interior.

Did you know why she was renamed ??

Read it backwards and you will know.

    Izanami = Im a nazi

That is surely not a name for a nice outstanding Yacht.

Maybe true, but he named her Katana first, before Eco became Katana...and now, is there any Katana left in this guys posession?

Or will that be the real name on his BIG boat?

Izanami was never named Katana before she became Ronin..

This seems like a bit of a stretch to me.

Do you think the guy intentionally named his boat with a secret double meaning when read backwards?

    IZANAMI

She was featured in The Superyachts, volume eleven 1998. Also in some magazines around the time before she sold and became Katana.

    Izanami Mythology

The name came from Japanese mythology, and Izanami is the name of one of the gods whose tears fell on the sea and formed the many islands of Japan. There is absolutely not a bit of truth that the name is consciously "I'm a Nazi" backward, but just a pure accident of mirror-mage spelling.

I wrote the Boat International feature in 1997, and it was reprinted in Super Yachts 1998, as well as BI's French and German magazines. Check it out! It's got some interesting insights into the owner's thinking and to the design by Sir Norman Foster, well-known British architect who also designed the owner's house, art museum, and major office building in Tokyo.

    Cheers,

    Jack

Plans, Blueprints, Pictures of Ronin (Ex-Izanami)

    Hi all,

i have to analyze the Yacht "Ronin" (ex Izanami) built in the 90s by the Luerssen Werft in Bremen. I want to rebuilt the yacht 3dimensional for my presenation in University. Because of confidentiality, the Shipyard and the architecture office didn't gave me any plans.

Do you got any floorplans or pictures of the front (back, groundplans, side etc.) of the yacht? I collected many pictures of Ronin and Izanami, but i need some stuff like this for bulding the yacht 3d:

You might try Norman Foster's office in London.
