I am looking for a deckhand job on a yacht. I will admit that I am new to the yacht world, but what I lack in experience I bring in enthusiasm and excitement. I have my STCW 95 and medical credential and would like to find someone to give me a chance. Ben Gold
Welcome, Ben. Having obtained your STCW 95 shows sincere interest for a newbie. You're in the right location so hopefully someone will give you a shot. Good luck.
Good news I got my first yacht job. I am in a shipyard with a crew working on a yacht. Hard work but I am learning.
almost ready for next job I have been working hard at my first job - preparing the Talisman Maiton to go to sea. We are almost done. I feel ready for another job, hopefully one where I can go to sea as a deck hand. Ben Gold
still looking I have a little bit of yacht work experience, but I am still looking for that first deck hand job. I am still filled with enthusiasm to break into the yachting world. Ben Gold
Right now get whatever experience you can. Most of it'll probably be maintenance experience at this time of year there. On your day's off walk the docks and make contacts. Try to get introduced to some brokers and boat dealers. (Hint, one responded to this thread). What you're preparing for is FLIBS, Oct. 30 - Nov. 3, 2014 (let them know you'd like to work the show if they have an opening), followed by high season in Ft. Lauderdale where hopefully that hard work and connections will pay off with a job on board. Good luck.
