Hi, We recently picked up this old girl and are looking for any information or knowledge anyone may have on these 32' fiberglass classics. This is hull number one built in 1969. She needs a little love but when we got her we took her 80 miles to her home port. Twin volvo diesels let you know they are running... Thanks for any info, pics or web links you may have to share.

Thanks, she is pretty girl and we hope to make her prettier.

    Volvos are TAMD41B's - 6 cylinder 200HP.

Great old boats that were first built of wood then fiberglass right here on the Miami river. Parts of their original factory are still standing on the south side of the river near fifth street.

If you really want info on these boats, contact Forest Johnson the prominent yacht photographer who I believe was the builders son.

    Thanks folks.

Yes, the photographer is his son. Good idea to try to connect with him.

Hi Capt Pete - Just found this post, and so happy to see this old girl surface in front of me. Have known the boat for many years as the charter boat in Oak Bluffs and watched her many trips in and out of the harbor and all the tons of fish she brought in over the years. I ran the ferries from Hyannis into the harbor for many years and of course could see the BANJO easy from the pilothouse as we went right by her slip. You have a great piece of history if you have hull #1 - nicely done and best of luck with your restoration. I'm looking around for a 32' Open Prowler, but hard to find a decent one for sale. Florida is the best bet.

Thanks. She does have some history. There is a video on youtube of banjocharters showing she had lots of fish on deck. The prowlers are great boats as far as I can tell. Seaworthy and a very manageable size.

    32' Prowler

Forest isn't really interested in talking about the old Prowlers. I've had him at my yard in Stuart, FL where I had two or three at the time and it's not a good memory from his past. The 32' originally had big blocks like 454 Mercruisers. Most have been since repowered with diesels and sometimes they were a bit too heavy. The last 32' I had had the spray rails extended all the way aft and widened too. Presently I own a fiberglass 23 that I've repowered with a single 502 with a Bravo outdrive. She flies at 47 MPH.....

Hi - Glad to see your recent post about the old Prowlers. Your 23 looks great & looks like you have a ball with her. You probably know all about Roger O'Neill's operation down in Riviera Beach, but if you don't, he redoing an old 32in his shop in the industrial park on Investment Lane. He doesn't have a website, but there's some interesting stuff on Facebook & about 6 pictures of the Prowler under construction. He's all excited about this boat, as he usually specializes in redoing old 28' Bertrams. I would love to own a 32' Open someday & salivate over Alan Jackson's Catillac over in Jupiter. That's a beauty. Best, Mattakeese

Here's our girl before launch this spring and then sitting pretty and happy on her mooring. She's a sweet old gal and gets lots of looks in the harbor.

    32' Prowler

I sold Roger that Prowler. I'm sure he'll make a neat boat out of her.

    Forest Johnson Prowler

I took these pictures about a week ago.
The new owner remembers the boat when it was brand new and wants to restore her former glory.
It has/had a pair of Cadillac engines.

Ironically, when I did a search on Google for more info on Forest Johnson, the best stuff was on Y.F.

That boat sat not too far from my house for years and years. The owner of Worton Creek Marina purchased the boat.

    32' Fiberglass Prowler

I'm working on another 32' Prowler that was a commercially used hull for many years. It's the hard top version and was set up as a single diesel. I hope to have her a my yard "Byblos" in the next six months or so. I love Prowlers, Cadillac NUMBER REMOVED

    Hello,

Do you still have this Prowler? Name on the boat is Her Grace.

    Thanks!
