Dear friends of old wooden boats here (and all others as well), I´d like to request some help concerning info on the swedish-built Motoryacht SELMA. This fast ans sleek 80ft.-boat was build in Sweden in 1927-28 by the yard Stockholms Båtbyggeri and in the fall of 1928, was shipped over to Florida to be used as a summer residence for the Massachusetts-based owner family. I´m asking for a friend of mine from sweden who is very interested to find out some details concerning her fate after beeing delivered to the US. Perhaps anybody here knows about the owner Family back then, her cruising grounds and until when the boat was active. Any hint is appreciated.
Any info? The boat was also known as SCOUT IV, LORNA DOONE III and CONSORT III over the years. I was not able to find anything later than the late 1950s...
Did you try the Wooden Boat Forum? Lots of information over there, if anybody knows, they should. This gang here is more into plastic boats with big motors and no class
She is listed in the 1975 Edition of Lloyd's as "Mae-B" ex Selma, Scout VI, Lorna Doone III, Consort III. O/N 228682 which returns no current record today. Owner in 1975 was listed at Brodie-Manchester Syndicate, registry Alexandria, Va. home port Washington, DC.
Thank you, Eric. That´s indeed interesting. Seems like that boat had quite a long active service life.
