Looking for Boat builder from Asia

Hi friends,

I am looking for a good quality boat builder based in Asia to build for me fiberglass boats on contract. I will provide the moulds,designs etc and i just need the builder to build (complete from lamination to final finishing) very high quality boats for me. The first model planned is a 25 feet cabin cruiser with hard top. I prefer Asia as the costs have to be kept extremly low to enable me to sell this boats at low prices in emerging and new markets.Later models will include a 33 or 35 footer. If you are a boat builder and can provide this service at a very good quality and price please do let me know.Bye

Thanks Mate for the link. No i didnt choose any of the names but something very different. The name i have chosen is "NAUTILUS YACHTS"..our new website www.nautilusyachts.com has been registered and it will be up and running very soon. The name was inspired from Jules Verne's novel "20,000 leagues under the sea". In this novel Captain Nemo sails the greatest ship of all time and that ship was the "Nautilus".

What say all??How is my find

Hi there, I was in Taiwan 3 yrs ago in Tainan they do the same thing for Grand Banks, Eastbay, etc. Even Yamaha and Nissan (car manufaturer) have made their brands in yachts in same company. Similar idea like yours did Elegance, Ladenstein, Yaretti, etc.
From My experience price of very nice 62 footer Spadolini design is selling in Taiwan retail cca 800.000 USD with twin CAT's 800 hp. Elegance 62 for example retail here in Europe is around 1.2 - 1.5M EUR (imagine the price margin).

Now Taiwanese are opening their yards in China for even lower costs.

You can also find good shipyards in Vietnam.

But, maybe you should think twice, clients doesn't like yachts from Asia (they always suspect quality), they like mostly European design, therefore my suggestion is Poland and Croatia (low labour costs and good quality and know how). You can do the work in shipyard in no tax zone where you can get spare parts cheaper, etc....

Sounds like you need either GulfCraft or AS Marine, they already have the moulds and plans, oh and the finished boats and have been supplying the 'emerging and new market' for the last 30 years or so.
Ok maybe not them.

In the film the league of gentlemen, captain Nemo and his crew appeared to be Indian, try Goa.

Didnt the Nautilus travel underwater ?

Knowing that you put more time into this than the 3 minutes I have. There seem to be a bunch of "NAUTILUS" yachts currently for sale.

Yes,there are boats privately named the Nautilus but we are a boat building company which is called the Nautilus and this will be the brandname for our boats.

Captain Nemo's boat may have been a submarine but Jules Verne described the Nautilus as "Masterpiece within which there are many masterpieces". This description shows the kind of vessel it is and this is also what are boats will be"Truly Masterpieces"

The boats build by both GulfCraft and AS Marine have quality issues. They sell well due to a good price and the brand name they have been able to create in Middle East and Asia. They sure churn out boats in big numbers and that the biggest problem.In doing this they have abandoned the idea of quality in details. Moreover in the Middle East yachts are purchased for the image of owning one and not for using them.So most of the time its berthed at the marinas and rarely sees the seas(in this situation quality rarely an issue)

HA HA ..yes you are right..Jules Verne's characted Captain Nemo is from India. He is supposed to be a rebel soldier who had to flee after the uprsing against British rule. Interesting how Jules Verne a French Author brings in an Indian to smack the ass of his British rivals...lol...this is a clear case of British-French rivalry.But hey i am neutral and was just inspired by the boat and not by the motives.

Generally speaking you get what you paid for, and there are a few yards that I would trust in Taiwan like Jade Yachts, but would avoid most of them. I would also avoid most yards in China.

What to do.

Yes the finer details are missing from the Gulfcrafts however that is getting better as shown by their 3 new models at the Kuwait boat show, the 44, 56 and 101 are much higher level of detail to the finish then previous models, and the 130 is very impressive in its layout and attention to detail.
Ok its still not a feadship or even a sunseeker but then neither is the price tag.

The highest quality finish for smaller boats (24'-38') in the Arabian Gulf is possibly Al Daheen from Bahrain, their quality is similar to American boats, however so is their price tag.

Good luck in finding that balance between cost and quality now that you are a boat builder.

Thanks for the inputs and yes you are spot on with your observations. My plan is pretty simple.Offer a world class boat at an extremly affordable price. This i plan to acheive by clever use of production tecniques and maximising resources available with minimum wastages. In my efforts i have a big team of yachting professionals as advisors and also consultants. So the pooling of this resources is bound to bring forth quite an impressive product. I will sure be giving all the YachtForums readers a sneak peak at the boat at a later stage. All of you are directly or indirectly associated with this project and it will be a wonderful feeling when we do the grand unveiling. Maybe will bring the boat for the next Kuwait Boat Show???what say dhow
