i would like to mate a caterpillar 3208 to a mercruiser bravo 2 setup. anyone have any info? i have the stern-drive setup all ready to go i could put any engine in want but it must be diesel and 250hp+ with excellent parts availability and price. i have experience with the mercrusier 4.2 d-tronic and d254 and the d-tronic 7.3 all have there flaws. i am kind of looking for something used or nearly new/ just a good deal in general.

Don't think your looking at a new engine, but an old heavy one. I love those old 3208s but the weight in da rear may be a little more that you want. Flywheel adapter it self is around 150lbs.
The Cummings 5.9 would be the easiest, since it's would all be close to stock Merc. The hang on equip would weigh a bit less.
What ever you put together, let us know.
