Hey all...any more news on the Xvintage yacht in development between Fincantieri and Wärtsilä for a new 99m dual fuel, IMO Tier III yacht? I hope that the link (with video) I am including is okay for YF so here goes...

    Xvintage

This looks like an exciting prospect for the future since the IMO Tier III regulations go into effect in 2016....of course, for mainstream acceptance, the infrastructure for the provisioning of LNG for yachts would have to be worldwide (i.e., Med, Caribbean, SE Asia or anywhere else the more adventurous owner travels)...and since fuel seems to be getting higher and higher (never lower) it would be great to see this technology develop and more owners include this in new builds....the video is pretty interesting but I am not too sure on the actual design.

However, I have to wonder if retrofitting/converting existing yachts would be too expensive when one considers the need to add the large and long LNG tanks....

    Any thoughts??

    Cheers,
