Company Honors Past Success And Showcases Future Yachts at Recent Launch Ceremony in Dania Beach, Florida. (August 24, 2005)

Broward Marine, the South Florida-based builder of luxury yachts, continued its evolution under new owner Tom Lewis with the launch of Soulmate, the last of Broward’s highly successful 20’-beam series. The yacht was launched during a christening event at the manufacturer’s shipyard with all Broward Marine employees, local political dignitaries and officials from the South Florida marine industry present.

The christening and launch of Soulmate represents a significant milestone for the celebrated company, paying homage to the successful accomplishments of the boat builder’s past while previewing the future vessels in production at the shipyard. Made famous by the original owner, Frank Denison, the 20’-beam series is remarkably represented by almost 40 yachts dating back to the late 1980’s. The 106’ Soulmate symbolizes the last of the series, making way for a fleet of larger yachts in production under Tom Lewis.

“Tom Lewis has reenergized Broward Marine and infused it with exciting designs for future yachts,” said Frank Herhold, executive director of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida. “Most importantly, Mr. Lewis has embraced Broward’s history and legacy, acknowledging the impact Frank Denison had on South Florida’s economy and the worldwide yacht industry.” The 20’ beam series was one of the most popular yachts ever built by Broward Marine, which has been a leading South Florida luxury yacht manufacturer since 1948. “Broward Marine is a true South Florida icon, serving as the hometown brand for a region that has become the ’yacht capital of the world,’” added Lewis, who purchased the company on March 9, 2005.

Soulmate is defined by its traditional beauty and spacious accommodations, with a master stateroom on the lower deck as well as three guest staterooms. Elegant materials and an efficient use of space highlight the interior of the yacht. The pilothouse provides easy access to the flybridge, enabling guests to enjoy the outside views of the sea, sip cocktails at the full-service bar or relax in the Jacuzzi.
