I have a La Marche 24 (and 12) volt constavolt in the boat... Don't know why I have a 1989 boat w/ 1973 technologically in it but I do....

We have had nothing but trouble with it lately.. frying the battery's and will not go below 75 amps.. The owner tells me to trouble shoot the diodes etc. and replace them..

I have been a Capt. for a long time.. But really don't do soldering work on board circuits.. LOL..

I am recommending a complete switch-out to a smart charging system...

NOW the one issue I have is I also have an onboard DDEC Detroit engine electronic control system that I have to take into consideration when replacing with another charger..

I am leaning towards a Charles 5000 series 60 amp charger...

I would appreciate any comments or recomendations..??

    thanks for your time...

While the old ferro chargers are usually reliable i don't think they are worth repairing. Switch to the Charles.

With a ferro, you must top the batteries monthly, or else.
