Is that the carb or injected gas engine? I think the Carb runs for a few seconds longer than the injected model after shut off. The ignition is still enabled at shut down. Fuel to the main jet is turned off stopping the engine.
It is the carbed unit. It seems like it is burning gas still in carb, but it is not running a normal engine speed. It's not the normal shutdown it used to be. Thanks for your response.
I won't call it computer controlled, but there are a few electric/electronic controls on the gas Kohlers that requires some experience to work on. With emissions and very low CO requirements on them now, a Real Kohler tech may be required. Because of CO issues, inherent with poor running, I will encourage a Real Kohler tech out there quickly.
