Kohler 6.5 Leaking Oil

    Has anyone encountered significant oil leaking from their 6.5kw other than from around the oil filter seal?

    I've looked all around the obvious places such as oil fill box and seals, drain tube connection, crankcase gaskets...

    The only placed I haven't checked are where it's too tight to see such as under and behind due to space constraints...

    Just wondering if someone came across something stupidly easy to fix, by chance, and don't want to have to take out the whole thing.

    Check your air filter it may need to be replace. The air filter is one that you soak in oil.

    The 6.5 gas model used a brass screen for the air filter/flame arrester.
    I remember the oil pressure switch mounted low and maybe hard to see under the mag. Don't remember any pan or crank seal issues. It was a solid block.

    I'm supposed to soak the air filter in oil? Didn't read that in the manual.

    What's 'the mag,' and where do I find it to inspect? I can try looking in the manual and check around the switch to see if it's leaking.

    Is this Genny the old 4 cylinder flat top or the newer V2 Kawasaki motor? The Mag I mentioned is the Magneto from the ole flat top design.

    It's got the 2 cylinder Kawasaki.

    Kohler 6.5 surging when running- need manual

    Hi,
    Does anyone know where to get a repair manual for 6.5 kohler gen in a 1995 carver mariner 330?

    Our generator is surging when it runs and we would like to tune it up and figure out what its wrong with it.

    We just got the boat in May and it didn't come with a manual for the generator.

    Anyone know where I can find one or have any suggestions?
