    Published: April 11, 2007

ROME, Italy: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are treating themselves to an Italian luxury yacht fitted with a swimming pool, a heliport and a submarine.

The yacht will be built in the shipyard of Civitavecchia, a port town north of Rome, by luxury shipbuilder Privilege Yard SpA, which said Wednesday that the couple has commissioned an 85-meter-long (280-foot-long) yacht for €200 million (US$268 million). Delivery is set for July 2009.

The passenger cabin will include two 300-square-meter (3,200-square-foot) apartments, plus two guest suites of 150 square meters (1,600 square feet) each.

Other features include a swimming pool, a heliport, speedboats and a small submarine that will allow guests to explore the sea up to a depth of 300 meters (980 feet).

I doubt that, especially a 85m yacht going for €200 million...

    Hi,

The price as outlandish as it may seem is quite within the realms of possibility if it is partcularly complex and includes artists and art to fit it out fully. Yards have full order books so they can charge what they want especially if as stated the delivery time for a new 85m yacht from a never before heard from yard can be knocked out in 27 months. To the best of my and my colleagues knowledge this delivery forecast is presently un attainable in Europe or anywhere with any pedigree of yacht building so I believe this article lacks the material fibre to be considered llegitimate.

It is basically all smoke and mirrors both of which were readily available in Chivitavecchia last time I was there. If someone has anything verifiable to add please feel free

In the meantime you might want to read that it's got smaller and cheaper so it may get smaller and cheaper in reality yet.

My wife has a copy of the Star Magazine from last week. Front page news was Angelina tossed Brad out.

So another yacht in build becomes available. :)

    Don't you just love gossip?

Here in New Orleans where they now live/ are raising their kid, the morning show Walton and Johnsen had a very funny skit along the lines that the new yacht will be used to house Angelinas adopted children from poor countries. It also said that they would be able to start their own little colony aboard the yacht. It was quite funny to listen to, Im sure its somewhere on the web.

Quote from the above articles: "Ogni megayacht Privilege sarà munito di appartamenti e supersuite, immensi saloni, nove ristoranti, centri benessere e palestre, 5 piscine, 7 ascensori, 3 piattaforme di atterraggio per elicotteri ed idrovolanti con relativi hangar, tender, cargo boat, otto limusines e persino un sottomarino tutto in vetro per esplorazioni marine fino a 300 metri di profondità."

It says that every meagayacht deliverd from the yard will be fitted with 9 resturants, 5 swimming pools, 7 elevators, 3 Heli landing pads, 8 limousine cars, hangars for heli storage, tender adn submarine, etc. etc.....

The descritpon it gives applies more to a super-mini cruiseship rather then a private megayacht. Or else, why put 9 restaruants and 8 cars...?

They also say they have orders for four 125m, two 85m and two 160m. Pretty amazing for a yard that is not yet built.

the prize for the most BS PR material goes to........:D

    Hi,

I have worked in this industry for nearly 25 yrs, I have yet to see a "yacht" of any size that has any "restaurants" let alone 9. All that stuff wouldn't fit onto any of those boats listed in the BS online unless they were two seater restaurants and single person elevators.

The worrying thing is that there are Owners or potential Owners out there who have made millions as super savvy business men and women who will be baffled by their brokers into going to a yard that can promise a delivery several years ahead of the nearest competition and they will come away sorely disappointed.

There are an ever increasing number of individuals and companies that see yachting as a cash cow and a way to make quick and easy riches. This makes the selling of quality goods and services all that much harder when an Owner says "but these guys can do this and that for this and that much why can't you?"

The ones who seem to make money lately are the ones who "own" construction slots at premier yards and then "sell" them to those who more "instant" gratification.

I actually find this quite amusing. How could a 85M yacht go for 200M Euros? and especially 9 restaurants? LOL!... to be built in less than 27 months by a 'contracted yard' that i never knew existed.

I think it's called Hollywood entertainment!
Yes, it is quite amusing...stuff that belongs on the cover of supermarket tabloids.
I'll beleive this when I actually see it!

That the couple could even afford that price seems extremely unlikely to me...

Not all are out of reach. But why order somthing that big and complex from an unpruven yard? As for me I would take the extra time, to talk with a Yard that can let you talk with happy clients. The stats for the sub seem outlandish, if you want to go down with only two or three people.

This yard doesn´t exist yet and have not got permission to build where they intended. Since nobody has confirmed anything about the yacht either, we better consider it as a cheap PR trick from the people behind the yard to be...
