JFA 122' Axantha

This beautifully crafted 122 footer is a masterpiece from JFA shipyard and Vripack Architects. Constructed from all aluminum, she features bold characteristics that lends to the conceptualization or codification of an explorer yacht. She is capable of crossing oceans in a comfortable and safe environment. This explorer is named the Axantha.

Some may argue that she has been somewhat overshadowed by her shipyard mate, the Bystander but the Axantha stands out in her own right. The Axantha is different to the Bystander in many ways such as her deck arrangement.

Bystander's decks are centrally arranged. On the other hand, Axantha's superstructure is located aft of center. This gives the mid to fore areas room for tender storage. The 122 foot Lloyds-Malta Cross class explorer is 26.10 feet wide, offering quality space. She carries a suitable 8 foot draught enabling her to sneak into unexplored regions.

This 220 tonne, all aluminum vessel features an awl grip flag blue hull as well as an awl grip white superstructure. The decks are finished in 20mm thick teak wood, adding to the quality touches aboard the yacht. Other quality touches, include the American Cherry wood and joinery on the interior.

The propulsion of the Axantha is aided by 2 X 5 bladed HSP Aquaprop propellers. Engine power to the propellers comes compliments 2 X CAT 3406E 475CV engines. They power her through the water at a high-cruising speed of 13.8 knots. Reduce her speed to 13 knots and you can attain a trans-Atlantic range (3,000+NM).

The interior arrangement of the Axantha called for efficiency and order in the planning stages. It is evident now in reality. The four-deck arrangement is as follow: Lower-Deck, Main-Deck, Upper-Deck (Bridge) and Sun-Deck. On the Lower-Deck (in the hull), there are crew and guest accommodations. 4 X guest and 1 X Owner's Suite are located below. About 3 X crew cabins are also located on the same deck separated by a watertight bulkhead. The captain's cabin is located on the Upper/Bridge-Deck.

Meanwhile, on the Maindeck, one will find the spacious Main saloon. There is also a formal dining room on this deck as well as the yacht's Galley. On the Upper-Deck, there is a guest saloon as well as the bridge/wheelhouse. In addition, there is the captain's cabin as was mentioned before.

All in all, the Axantha is a robust design coupling a modern classic look with functionality. Exterior space is abundant where the mid-fore deck accommodates two tenders. They are serviced by a flush fitting crane in the fore-mast. The interior is fitted with quality wood, materials and textures. Accommodation for guests and crew alike, are located below on the Lower-Deck and other social areas on the Main and Upper Decks. Need a go anywhere type yacht? The Axantha fits that description.
