I could not make up my mind as to where this should be posted. So here it is. Feel free to move/delete at will.

I found this on CL this evening. There seems to be a number of red flags here. And, if we can save some one some time by not wasting their time, it would be a good thing right? Or has the industry picked up that much?

I am putting my ads in smaller towns where i feel people still are nice humble polite and kind. I feel there is a better family upbringing so lets see what happens.

Wanted yacht stewardess who is sweet polite and kind .. NO attitude wanted! Someone who is honest, does not steal from the boat owner, does not get repeatedly drunk and has the urge to party the whole time. And does not bring her personal romantic interest on board without permission.

    Expectations are

The boat travels to the hamptons in the summer, from june to october. Then it is based in miami or the bahamas for the winter months. There is light cooking on board basic housekeeping skills such as laundry and making beds, also serving cocktails to guests. We do run a background check on all candidates. Boat experience is not necessary . IF you have a attitude or are not a pleasant person , if a guest asks for something and that bothers you, please do not apply we will not keep you around. This is a service job if you must like to make people with high expectations happy . All requests are simple, A drink, a snack, a towel etc. nothing outlandish. We have found a few very nice girls that we have worked with that have raised the bar and we know they are out there. Send your resume and ask any questions you want, we are nice and polite and treat the people who work with us very well. The pay is 800 a week. Again i can not emphasize be sweet nice or do not apply. THe summers we are busy, but winters you will have alot of down time to relax.. IF you have things that keep you from being focused on your work during the summer i do not recommend you apply. Send a resume with a accurate picture of who you are today not how you looked 10 years ago. No pic no reply. THank you for your time. If you are what we are looking for, you will have a great time and realize we are nice we are just looking to share nice times with a quality person.

We do have 5 children on board once in a while so you must like children. ALso we want a nice kind person who does not have the urges to go out drinking all night, date every guy in every marina we are at, consume liquor of the boat in large quantities, charge personal items and nights out on the town on as a boat expense.. ALso if you get homesick in the middle of the summer, this wont work. IF you have a boyfriend who you need to see regularly, this may be tough on the relationship so may not work either, This is a real job with real expectations nothing. Be nice be kind be honest you will have amazing memories. Thank you.

    Hi,

I think it is someone taking the piss and looking to take advantage.

They should add that in addition to light cooking, laundry, making beds and serving cocktails for guests , plus the occasional 5 kids to look after you will be required to have your ankles behind your ears when required.

There is no indication as to size of yacht or number of other crew so this alone should raise a query from anyone looking at it seriously.

    Craig's list job posting

    K1W1,

I think this says it all:

"I am putting my ads in smaller towns where i feel people still are nice humble polite and kind. I feel there is a better family upbringing so lets see what happens."

In the past, my experiences with girls from the midwest (and Utah) has confirmed that statement (i.e., polite behaviour and family values still exist ;o)).

A simple email requesting the missing information should alleviate 'scam' concerns.

Scam or not, I couldn't say.... but as someone who's had to hire in the past I can sympathize with whoever wrote that. It looks to me like a frustrated employer decided to just write what he really felt like saying.

That could very well be legit. The writing style looks familiar. At least the wording confirms it's not Nigerian. :) Sounds like someone who doesn't want to waste time. There was a day when a lot of homes and businesses in this area would import Irish girls for exactly those qualities. Employers and employees were very happy.

That wouldn't work this time. The ad clearly states: "does not get repeatedly drunk and has the urge to party the whole time".;)
