Insurance For Older Boats

    Having problem finding insurance for my 1962 cc.roamer w/steel hull
    most companies say the boats to old or the steel hull is a issue.?????
    I have one company w/interest but they want a survey done. is this common. what is cost of survey.

    They will all require a survey. If its been a while, it may not be a bad investment to get her looked over anyway. As far as insurance, try the folks who do the classic coverage, like Hagerty.

    Survey almost always required when insuring an older boat. About 10 years after I had my boat, my own insurance company wanted it resurveyed. Either that, or they drop it. Spend the couple hundred bucks. A surveyor will show you things you never knew.

    Try Haggerty Marine Insurance in Traverse City MI. They specialize in older boats and collector cars. My boat is insured with them. And yes, an insurer will want a survey done every few years.
