I'm planning a trip from Puget Sound to Ketchikan Alaska in a few weeks. I have nearly everything planned except a good anchorage spot on one of my nights. Can anyone suggest a good spot somewhere along the way between Bella Bella/Shearwater and Prince Rupert? I'll be leaving Port Hardy early in the morning and prefer to get farther North than Bella Bella but don't want to push that hard to make Prince Rupert. Maybe something about 50 miles north of Bella Bella?

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Butedale is interesting and has always been a popular stop.

there are alot of places you can anchor on that route butedale has an awsome water fall, keep an i on the ais as a lot of boats will be making the same trip starting soon and you can find some neet places to stay , we run through there day and night we never anchor , if you have never made the trip before make sure you watch the tides and currents as seymore narrows usualy has about one are two boats a year get in trouble

    have fun travler

    I like Mary Cove. 52.36N 128.26W

Butedale is nice, but there isn't much protection from passing vessels. Mary Cove is nice and small. Good to get out of most weather. There's only room for a couple boats at the most.

Enjoy. We'll be heading out May 16 from Seattle. Happy sailing!

Thanks all. I'll have a look at these.

I thought I read somewhere that Klemtu no longer offered fuel? Anyone been through there recently? If they have fuel I can likely bypass Bella Bella.

I am pretty sure they have it, but may not be selling it regularly, based on their needs. I would use Bella Bella anyway due to pricing if it won't affect your plans too drastically.

They have/had ? quite an active fish processing plant there that had the fuel, would suggest googling Klemtu and see what turns up, worth a stop any way, nice place, you can get a feeling as to why the early tribes would choose a place like that to set up a village.
