Information wanted, Jones Goodell Yachts

many years ago i owned a jones goodell it was a very good boat it was steel singel 8v71 detriot ,five years ago one of the partners was still alive and building cabinets in tacoma . i belive the guys that own modutec marine will be able to give you the contact info as they were personal friends , hope this helps

You can check with the guys at J&G Marine Supply in Tacoma they are still in business on the boat yard property. Ask for Don.

If my memory serves me thay built several steel boats. I recall one aprox. 60 footer that was a very pertty boat with a wishbone mast. The last time I saw it was in san Diego.

yes the hull was built buy jones /goodell in there yard the boat was orignaly built as san ron for two familys in san diego , was later bought buy a person in wrangell AK then sold too a person in seattle i then purchased the boat the people in wrangell re named the boat star queen witch is still the name today the boat is now in king harbor the original drawings for the boat are still on the boat , they also bought some hulls from other builders then finished them selfs

Hi- My grandpa is Les Jones, of Jones-Goodell. My uncle is still in the boat bussiness, as is my second cousin. My grandpas brother, Don, is retired but still living. Did you still have any questions? My grandpa died when I was very young but my mom grew up at the boat yard and in the water, and my uncle is very present in the building world.

She is a unique vessel ,and i am very interested in her origins ,The boat strongly reflects the grandy marlineers in appearance and Layout

I did find out some more info ...
looks like it was designed by
Lynn Senour (who was in fact responible for the marlineers as well)
the plans are labeled

New Marlineer /Delta 50
and signed by Senour
but definatley doc. ed as a jones goodell

I guess ,I am curious how this came about
or if that is common for a custom boat to be documented with the yards/builders name
but not the designer /architect
i had assumed the boat was designed by goodell
but it looks like maybe not confusing

I was am pretty sure that it was one maybe the only all glass 50
I was not aware of the newport beach connection ,pretty cool for me as i grew up sailing and fishing in newport harbor even drove the shore boat at NHYC for a spell ,pretty strong roots there for me .
I have always loved the plywood marlineers there is still a very nice one in newport that somebody restored very nicely and it is awesome
