I am new to this forum. And I am also the new owner of an old 1976 LePage trawler. I'm desperately seeking information on this vessel, I can not find anything on it when I google it and I'm wondering if anyone out there knows anything about these boats? From the little bit of information I have gathered through other people LePage was a helicopter company that tried their hand at building boats for a while. It's a real interesting boat and I have fallen in love with the shape and size of it, it is at 42 footer. Anybody with any information on the boat would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to getting to know people on here as I'm a first time trawler owner leaving an old steel hull Houseboat for the open seas I'm very excited!
Welcome aboard Shannenski. Near as I can find you've got a one off or pretty close. I suspect it relates to the A.W. LePage boat builder out of Vancouver, B.C. who built commercial boats back in the early 1900's, but I can't find any definite link. You might try contacting some old yards up that way and follow leads.
If this is the boat I'm not sure I'd be heading off into open seas. Looks can be deceiving so it may be a true blue water boat That it's located on a lake in Tenn. suggests maybe it's not. It looks like a nice boat anyway so good luck to you if it's yours. ps This is the only picture, well set actually, I could find of one. They couldn't have made many. I couldn't find any other information. If this is not your boat I found it on craigslist for Knoxville, TN.
Yes, that's my boat. I'm not going to blue water anytime soon though. This boat was brought up from the FL keys, so I know its capable at least....all I know is that it was built in Canada and it ended up here. I do boat repair for a living and I've checked out the hull and deck. It seems really sturdy and amazingly thick walled for that year. It is keeled from front to back. The previous owner assured me it can stand on its own. It has twin diesels and diesel Gen. Marine air and heat. I am going to remodel it and paint it, deck and hull and interior alike to outstanding glory. I've driven her and she runs out smooth, no leaks, no oil, nothing. I'm a first time "trawler" owner so we will see how this first one goes. I'm still looking for more info on it though.....thanks for the people who have replied so far.
