    Amels Limited Edition 199' underway

Dutch yacht builder Amels has started construction of one of its new models in the expanding line of self branded Limited Edition yachts. The Limited Edition 199' follows on from the 171' platform fitting snugly between that and the 212' platform. Amels states that steel cutting for the new Limited Edition started in July 2010 and the starting of keel laying will be in October.

A packed construction schedule now starts in earnest with planned delivery of the first yacht two and a half years from now. The exterior design has been penned by Tim Heywood and the conceptualization for the interior is by Nuvolari & Lenard. Amels describes the Nuvolari & Lenard interior as 'transitional' by way of melding the most pertinent and best features of traditional and modern styling. This thus creates an interior that matches well with the Tim Heywood exterior.

Being that this is a new model (LE199'), immense and detailed engineering work is the reality but all the meticulous work will pay off later when the first hull is delivered. The platform would have been laid and construction on future hulls will be easier. However, with proven contractors and companies onboard, confidence should be high for Amels.

The 199' will also be a very green yacht when completed, envisioned to incorporate features designed to minimize impact on the environment. Some of these features include HUG filters to minimize or eliminate soot emissions from the Generator Sets. The extensive utilization of LED lights in the effort to power conserve and use of high efficiency and insulated glass to lessen the use of artificial forms of heating and cooling.

The LE 199' will keep its tenders and PWCs forward in the bow in an effort to keep the traditional aft area of the hull-used for tender storage-free and uncluttered. The first LE 199' is expected to be delivered by Spring 2013.
