  1. 141-meter "Dream Symphony" schooner starts construction

Back in October 2010, YF alerted you to the possible design and intent to build the "Dream Symphony" -the world's largest sail yacht-. Today we can tell you that construction has indeed started on this monumental project. The Dream Symphony has a design in a collaborative effort by Ken Freivokh Design and Dykstra and Partners Naval Architects.

The impressive four-masted schooner will be of staggering proportions with a length of just over 140-meters. Dream Ship Victory is building the epic project and so much so epic, the company had to make extensive modifications and reclamation.

Speaking of reclamation, new land has been made in the sea and the mountain side to support the expanded facilities for the Dream Symphony. The largest shed in which Dream Symphony is being constructed is approximately 200-meters long and two other sizable sheds for handling vessels up to 80-meters.

The vessel won't have a steel hull or a fiberglass hull. She is being made reality in wood! It will take special construction to ensure the new vessel works to its intended specification. So far the keel of Dream Symphony is well advanced in its laying. Launching of the gigantic schooner can be expected in 2014.
