I would like to get some information about taking a 90' with a 12' draft, and 24" beam, up the ICW from Ft. Lauderdale to New York. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Mkauai
Check the AIWA message boards for the latest problem spots... http://www.i-ccg.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi Also, get the latest navigation charts, tide information, marina locations and bridge openings here... http://www.reedsalmanac.com/intracoastal_waterway_d.html Or get the Intracoastal Waterway Chartbook, around $60... http://www.seaschool.com/Store-12.htm And last... follow another yacht with a deeper draft.
It is impossible to do ICW from ft. lauderdale to New York. Many sections of the ICW from Ft. Lauderdale to NY are 10' or less. Especially throughout GA, SC, and parts of NC, as well as many parts of FL. I wouldn't recommend it in any yacht with a draft of over 8' and that is touchy.
