Yes, Hyundai, the Korean Car and Truck builder has now released a Marine 3.0ltr V6 diesel motor. It bolts straight onto a Bravo leg, so that old 4.3/5.0/5.7 's can now be turned to a 250hp low fuel consumption set up. Looks interesting. http://www.hyundai-seasall.com/index.php?module=Ecm&action=SiteEcm&iEcmNo=1&sMode=VIEW_FORM
A lack of any Hyandai marine support in the US will leave very few over here interested in trying one. But, Hyandai has come a very very long way in the US automobile market in a few short years, so we will see. How does this motor weigh in comparison to a gas motor?
Hi, Hyundai Heavy Industries is a massive operation, they do not just make Cars. They have also been making Marine Engines for over 30 yrs. http://www.motorship.com/news101/hyundai-record-milestone-in-marine-engines I wonder what sort of numbers they will be looking at for those in the retail market place?
The weight and footprint is almost the same as a smallblock Chevy/Merc V8. Pricewise? No idea but judging from their marketing in auto sales, I would say very competitive. K1W1 Only 43,000bhp in a VLCC and yet it still can't get on the plane to tow a skier? Not trying hard enough.
Passed a Hyundai derek the other day. Asked my wife if she wanted to trade in her Elantra. It'd be great for handling traffic on the LIE. Big company.
