    Hi,

I have just received through the jungle telegraph news that the Huntress ( De Vries 655) might have had a run in with the rocks/breakwater in St Tropez a few hours ago.

Does anyone have any further news about this?

    M/Y Huntress

    Hey Kiwi

I was in St Tropez when Huntress DID hit the key and about 12 other small dayboats.I was M/Y Seabluez on the outside wall,it took us 4 attempts to get it,35-50 knots winds!!!!we had 2 tenders on the bow and 1 on the stern to push us in.
Huntress was backing in at least 50-60 knots winds:confused: ,while the owner was sitting in a tender watching the whole thing.......:p Smuck!!!! Its the same old problem!!! GET MY BOAT INTO ST TROP,I HAVE FRIENDS THERE!!!,I feel sorry for the captain,i sure he would have preferred to stay at anchor!!
It took 20min to get out of the jam and he was towed out backwards by the St trop rescue tug and that was some **** fine boatwork from his part.
There was a guy on the next boat filming and iam hoping it will surfuce at some stage!

    Hi,

Since posting that question 7 months ago I have seen some pics of it and been told by another eye witness who was on the outside wall in St Tropez the drama that went on.

I oversaw the build as Chief Engineer and then went around the world on it so have a bit of a soft spot for the old girl.

I am quite surprised that the Port of St Tropez allowed the boats to come in when the wind was blowing that strong. We were outside waiting to enter and when the winds were 35 knots they closed the marina until further notice. If Huntress was allowed in at 50-60 knot winds then that is total madness of the Port Authorities.

    Hi Graham

You dont need to tell me it was madness!! We thought the port was closed as well... until Huntress started backing in. We were under a lot of pressure from the owner of our boat to get in, so i can only imagine what transpired with the St Trop capitainere to allow them to come in. $$$$$$... and they say St Trop does not take any bribes!!

P.S. if any one is in Monaco this season, there is a little Benetti berthed on the outside wall called "Libra Rising". One of the crew members has the footage on camera. Alas i have left the industry so i cant get my hands on it. :(

They must have paid big bucks to to get in. I am sure some questions will be asked as there must have been some damage on the day boats and Insurance companies will ask questions. The other question is who will pay for the damage?? Will Huntress be liable or will the Port of St Tropez be liable as they allowed Huntress to enter the port.
I know of a few boats that wanted to get a berth in the old port and they did get a berth after a very large amount was paid.
