Human smugglers

Just read an article about an Italian mothership in the Med that was seized for smuggling Syrians escaping their civil war. The fishing boat carrying the refugees had a crew of 15. At first I thought it was nice that an Italian captain was ferrying passengers to safety for a change, but turns out the crew were part of an Egyptian crime group. The Italian police collected 199 Syrians including 64 children. The article claims that between July 1 and Aug 10, almost 9000 Syrian immigrants reached Italy.
