I would like to replace the four opening ports in my 1976 42 Post. I am assuming what I have are the original ports. They're plastic and the clear lenses are crazed and pitted. The frame holding the lens is plastic and looks permanently sealed so I don't think I can just replace the clear lens. There appears to be a very small label on the top inside frame, upside down, that might read "PYRI Manufacturing" with a tiny logo (boat?). It's nearly impossible to make out. I like having the ports - good ventilation and they fit the "classic" look of an older sportfish. But mine look like crap. The plastic is yellowed, feels brittle, lenses are all crazed, the dogs are corroded, etc. I haven't found a common match from Bomar, Beckson or Lewmar. Anybody been down this path already? Ideas or suggestions? Thanks!
In 2003 I did a complete refit on my 1981 Post 42. At that time there was a fellow in the parts dept at Post who was very helpful. They still had some items available for the older boats. I'd try giving them a call. If they don't have what you need, they can perhaps point you in a direction.
Thanks guys. I had sent Post an email but I'll follow up with a phone call. Newfound Metals has a 7X15 that would probably work but it's a bit oversized and would require modifying the cutout, etc. Nice looking product though - stainless steel, tempered glass and under $300 each. Would want to wait until next haulout and do it in the yard. Thanks again!
