I decided to start this as this is where I boat mostly. Feel free to add pictures! I will try to update weekly.
These are taken in Desolation Sound/Malibu/Princess Louisa Inlet/Earls Cove/Saltery Bay. Summer 2006.
Wow boat4life, Beautiful photos. Malibu Rapids really move huh? I like the vertical cliff wall in that one shot...spectacular. Are you cruising in Lazy Gal? Looks like a Hourston tow along.
Most of the vertical cliffs in that area go straight down. Nice pictures, these areas are were we mostly cruise with are old boat.
Yeah we do cruise in Lazee Gal. That's one of our Hourstons. They are great tenders! I took it through Malibu Rapids at full ebb once...
Nice pics! That is such a beautiful area. Thanks for sharing. Our first trip up your direction was spent between the San Juans and Victoria. The next one will likely be the west coast of Vancouver Island. After that we're headed your direction.
You may want to consider doing the calm sheltered waters of the East Coast instead. A lot more interesting and scenic.
OutMyWindow, there's a group from our area that is planning a summer, 2010 cruise from here to Barkley Sound. They'll go down the Columbia, up the coast of WA and cross the Straits to Barkley. They're all retired so have lots of time to spend doing this cruise. I'm not retired yet (595 more days, but who's counting??) so we'll only have a couple of weeks to spend up there. One nice thing about my job (and my wife's) is that if we run into weather problems and have to extend the trip by a few days, it's not an issue. The last two summers this group has gone from here up towards Campbell River and now want to try something different. Our boat is trailerable (barely) so we'll probably haul it to Anacortes, cross to Victoria then head to Barkley. The final destination up there will be Port Alberni. You sure live in a gorgeous and great boating area. Thanks for sharing the pictures and commentary. Keep 'em coming!
Don't want to scare you, but the North West Coast of the big Island can get pretty rough. Keep an eye on the weather and always be mindful of the closest safe harbour. http://www.pacificshipwrecks.ca/english/wrecks.html
You may want to check in to this site often... http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/marine/index_e.html Also, this site is geared torwards tugboats and towing in our BC tides and currents but may be interesting... http://www.tideandcurrent.net/
