I am about to commission a large 40m motor yacht. The Yacht will take about a year to construct. How do I go about securing home moorings for the vessel in the Med (pref. South of France.) The vessel is to be shared between 8 part owners, the itinerary will be fixed up to 2 years in advance. The yacht will cruise the med in the summer and the Caribbean in the winter stopping at predetermined ports of call every couple of weeks. How should we go about booking moorings? Do we need home moorings at all? Thanks in Advance Jon
The shortest answer is; Hire an experienced captain and he will arrange everything for you. Having a "home mooring" in Southern France is very expensive and not easy to get, so this I should not consider for this kind of yacht.
Mooring in the Med Just a little patience! In a few weeks time I'll be able to firmly offer you a berth in our new marina in Croatia. We will then propose a 40-50M mooring with a 25 year (transferable) lease for 640.000 euro. Berth is 12 meters wide, 250A/400V/3P power supply, 2 water taps, 5 telephone connections, satelite tv, wifi coverage, permanent pump-out facility. Marina to open 2008, airport 8kms, town centre 0.5kms, yard 0.5NM, shops, shandler, restaurant, gymnasium, clubhouse, etc on-site. We are currently working on the legal documents, escrow accounts for pre-bookings, etc. More after 9th september. Eventually contact me privately.
Where is that marina in Croatia? I am from Croatia, here you can only lease berths, cannot buy due to the government law, like i.e. France,...
