1996 48 forward holding tank under queen bed.
The 3 indicator lights for the tank level don't work correctly. The only one that's ever lit up is the bottom 1.
Does anybody have any experience with these systems and what kind of sending unit might be in the forward tank.
I know I'm going to have to take the sending out but I would like to know If anyone else has done this before.

The little floats get stuck most times. The assembly unscrew and up. Have a bucket or pail ready to receive the assembly. Pending tank depth, it could be tall.
Magnets in the floats open / close lil Reed switches.

If the floats are clear, ohm out the switch. The float / switch kit is available from Dometic.

I splice in a trailer flat connector to make removing the assembly easier.

If it's the same type of sender that my 1997 45 had it doesn't have any floats. I believe it's some type of capacitance set up. On mine the connectors and were corroded beyond repair. I replaced the whole setup with a system from Tech-Edge. Used the existing wiring and the sending unit screwed right in to the existing bung in the tank. Been working good for three years now.

Another option (if you're considering a full replacement) is from SCAD. I replaced both my holding and fresh water tank sensors with a TM2 - works great.

Ok thanks I will look I to that before I open or remove what I have.

Do you have the fiberglass tank shaped like a V under the forward berth?

Yeah, if it's the dometic one it's easy.......they press in, but you have to carefully cut the tubing to fit (use a tubing cutter) and make them the right length. They sell them in the different lengths.
