I read Hemingways Boat a few months back and if memory serves.... the boat on display is a copy not the original boat. Anyone know the answer?
The World Wide Sportsman in Key West had what was suposed to be an exact copy of his boat on display. The real deal lies in Cuba, at his home that is now a beautiful restored museum. The one above is the original.
Jim Moores at Moores Marine recently completed a "Pilar" copy for an upcoming movie production. See her in the background of photos 10 and 11 in this post: http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/g...20177-rebuild-classic-maine-lobster-boat.html As far as I know, as the OP stated, the one on display in Cuba is the real deal.
Sometimes referenced as a steaming light. Guess you are not old enough, or perhaps, too old to remember the term.
