  1. Heesen unveils new line of yachts at Monaco: 42M, 45M, 55M

Dutch mega and superyacht manufacturer Heesen, raised the curtain on a few new designs they have had in the works. The unveiling took place at last month’s Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) in the Principality of Monaco. Heesen’s Fast Displace Hull Form program has taken off and proof of that was with the introduction of the 65-meter FDHF Project, presented in 2010. She was sold very quickly after introduction and is currently under construction as Project ‘Omina’ with delivery expected in June 2013. However, there are three other models now in existence. There’s a 42-meter design, 45-meter as well as a 55-meter design.
  2. The 42-meter is a ground breaking design particularly below the waterline. The 42-meter FDHF is equipped with an apparatus called Hull Vane and is arguably the most dramatic advance in yachting: The first yacht that harnesses waves to produce power. Thanks to a special underwater wing developed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects, her efficiency is increased by an astonishing 35 per cent for speeds up to 15.9-knots. She will also have a 4,000-nautical mile range maximum in which Heesen can boast is the longest range of any 40-meter yacht. There is already a 42-meter FDHF yacht under construction with delivery set for 2014.
  3. A 55-meter FDHF is the other new yacht in the line featuring a steel hull. In fact, she is said to be the first steel hulled yacht over 50-meters with a fast displacement hull. She boasts features such as a touch-and-go helipad and a sundeck measuring 110-square meters. She also features tough angular yet muted lines similar to the 65-meter FDHF yacht. The Dutch yard’s order book extends through 2015 with ten yachts in build at the moment.
