Rich here Stony Brook NY, 38 convertable, 3126 Cats. We have had her 5 years and are very happy Luhrs owners. I am thrilled that Lee has gotten us a place again where we can find some answers to our common questions and share ideas

Kevin, here in the Chesapeake. I’ve had my 94 35’ convertible with Cummins 370s for 18 years and have pretty much upgraded everything on her. Love the boat, especially when we get caught in rough weather - Deep Vee gets us safely home! Thanks for adding this section.

Hi Buckshot, no major complaints on our 38/40 convertible. Repowered and repainted in 2015. She has served the family well for this last 8 years. Thanks for getting this going.

Hi JW, welcome. Interesting you call your boat a 38/40. I have what i think is a 38 convertable, but I have seen it listed as a 40. It has the ladder, thats a 38, right? What size is the convertable with the built in steps?

I forget the years but the bot was sold as a 380 for a while then a 400 when the 36 came out then back to a 380 when the 41 showed up. I would have to look at the brokers guide to see the exact years but this hull ran for a long time. This hull never had steps. That was the 36 and 41

Hard to believe but I have owned 2 different 38 Tournament Opens for over 23 years and over 10,000 hours of use.
Started with a 1996 with Cat 3126's, went through all of the recalls and rebuilds on those motors.
Bought the prototype Volvo IPS600's 38 in 2007. Boat is amazing with pods, growing pains in the early pod days but seems resolved now.
Miss the LUHRS owners site but will give this a try.

I don't own a Luhrs, but your conversion to IPS caught my attention. Wondering what performance changes you found and what hull changes you might have made. Any pictures?

This build was done by Luhrs as they were getting into IPS boats.
Handling and performance are a major improvement.
My 1996 with Cat 3126 motors cruised at 23 knots and burned 34 GPH.
My IPS boat cruises at 29 knots and burns 31 GPH, huge difference.
What would you like pictures of?

I'd mainly be curious to see the hull changes.
