Just looking for info on what people are using to securely hang pictures in the salon, staterooms and heads. My wife is in the decorating mode on our 58' Convertible. We have the grass cloth wall coverings in each stateroom so no velcro products will stick
I use adhesive strips for pictures. If the surface is smooth, they work great. IMO best solution for limited weight, as you do not drill holes...
My interior decorator (the boss) uses non damaging adhesive strips. I believe they are called Command hangers they are easy release and are available at all home improvement stores. Easy release if needed.
I used picture hanging wire and a couple of extra screws (wrapped the wire around a couple of the screws) .. my oil on canvas paintings have not moved.
I'm with Robertoman on double stick adhesives. The 3M Command strips are excellent for most things, but if the item is too heavy, the 3M model #414DC-SF 30lb tape is unbelievably strong and durable. I've used the 414 to mount standard metal microphone clips temporarily until an owner can decide where he wants it, and have had them stay put for years. A little Goof-Off or Xylene (Xylol) dribbled on the tape will make it removable, after it soaks in, and won't usually harm wood finishes. Any picture or frames will leave a shadow over time from sunlight, but at least there aren't holes to patch.
Mirror tape (double-sided self-gluing tape with a foam layer) when the wall surface allows for stick-on material.
