good day all, i will be headed north from nassau to rhode island in may and am running a relatively slow sailboat,7-8kts average.looking for any good websites that forecast speed, east or west wall positions, eddies, anything really. i use noaa's website and like it but they have not much detail about gulf stream. i can easily use water temp and color of course but would be nice to know abit more. i think it could take a day or 2 off a passage north, even if i duck north out of it around hudsons canyon or such. of course the wx when i sail will dictate more as any north anything would take the fun out of it. thanks in advance. trying to delurk myself. longtime lurker and smirker good day all. cw
NOAA's DIal-a buoy is best in my view, but this site has a few other resources: http://www.wspress.com/weather/
For a trip like that I would strongly consider using a pay as needed weather routing service like Commanders. http://www.commandersweather.com/ Also look at http://www.tidetech.org/gulf-stream-ocean-current-forecast And Buoy Weather http://www.buoyweather.com/index2.jsp
