One of those impressive launched by Blomh&Voss was the Golden Odyssee. Here you see an early photo of her from her second summer after her launch. The photo was taken at Nice in the early 1990's. Later her stern was modified and a bathing platform was added.
Blohm+Voss Golden Odyssey Blohm+Voss Golden Odyssey The "Golden Odyssey" was another milestone (for Blohm+Voss) in the construction of mega yachts. The overall concept was made by the J.F. Platou design office, whilst the exceptionally valuable and unusual interior furnishings in the owner's and passenger accommodation areas were designed by Cabinet Pinto of Paris. The design and assembly of the yacht, however, remained in the sole responsibility of Blohm + Voss. The hull is of steel, whereas the superstructure is made of aluminium. The propulsion system consists of two KHD diesel engines, each developing 2140 kW and each driving a controllable pitch propeller, producing a ship's speed of 18 knots. The diesel exhaust escapes below the waterline, a remarkable solution for vessels of this size. The latest achievements and standards were used for the mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment. This also applies to the air conditioning plant with which comfortable inside temperatures can be reached even under the most extreme ambient conditions. Golden Odyssey On Miami River Wow, is this Miami Vice or what? When I entered the Miami River the other day the first yacht I came upon was Golden Odyssey. What a great big beautiful yacht. One that you really do not appreciate the size of until you are right next to her.
