I'm not sure if this is the right site to ask this on, but does anyone know of any companies that produce large, old-world style sailing ships, like the galleon or the brigantine? I'm not even sure if these kinds of ships could be considered "yachts" but if someone wanted to purchase/commission a brand-new, modernized galleon ship, where would they start looking?

EDIT: I should mention that yes, I'm aware that such a ship would be large, expensive to build and maintain, and require a crew to operate.

Just bring the drawings and almost any shipyard could build it for you.

I've seen some for sale in the yellow paper (B & H), but they were for commercial use. You may get some leads there.

I've got pictures somewhere (the attic probably) of an 85 foot iroko planked, oak framed Scottish fishing boat that was converted into a two masted brigantine, rigged loosely on 18th century plans.
The original fishing boat was built circa 1956, and after her rather stunning transformation was sailed over to Spain in the '80s to be a charter yacht.
I have no idea how she sailed, or indeed if she still exists, but she looked absolutely beautiful, and totally captured the spirit of ships of that time. The base fishing boat had been retired from various oil rig support duties and had been purchased for 'the price of a decent car'.

Back in the early 90's there was a beauty in Ft. Lauderdale with green sails, a varnished hull and a grand piano. Wish I could remember her name. She was at the old town dock off Las Olas. Anybody remember her?
