    Need to come up with a design for a folding desk so my wife can telework from the boat. I was going to put a dekstop with self-supporting folding arms on the forward cabinet wall, but the height were it would blend in (just below the top molding) is too high. Would like to see photos if anyone has a folding desk in their salon.

    Thanks

    Just a thought, but could you put a temporary platform on the floor while she's sitting at the folding desk?

    I hadn't considered it. I think I would need to find a way to fold and store it too, and it would need to be pretty large. I suggested a taller chair, but she didn't think the ergonomics of that would work well.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

    Leave the top of the platform in place, just slide risers in place when you need and remove when she's not needing it. That way you're only storing the risers, you could make the platform look like the existing floor so no one's the wiser.

    Found a self-standing desk that folds instead of attaching to the counter wall. WIll replace the casters with felt or glide feed to drop a couple inches lower. When not in use will fold and slide over to the stbd side next to where we keep the Segways. I'll fab a latch or strap to secure (folded) to the cabinet wall when underway.

    I'm sorry brother, that kind of tickled my funny bone.

    When you get your desk finally figured out;
    can you tell us about your gizmo people mover.
    Is it(they?) effecting the ergonomics of your desk ideas?

    We use Segway Ninebots mostly for small towns that don't have other public transportation or well staffed Uber. They are much smaller than a bicycle so compatible with carrying on a boat. They happen to be stored underway in the corner of the salon. For reference, they stand knee high, you steer them with your knees against the pads at the top.

    Uh Oh, I know not to try these things.
    Falling on my face and a human bowling ball into a crowd or wall (Wile E Coyote) come quickly to my mind.
    I'm still looking for that perfect electric bar stool.
