I am currently enroute from Fort Lauderdale to Mystic Ct. on my 163rd delivery up the eastern seaboard.

If I may be of assistance, drop me an IM. I will pass on a detailed resume and list of outstanding references of yacht owners I deliver and work as contract captain for.

30 years in the marine industry and veteran engineering officer with the USCG.

    163 times WOW...

If you don't mind a few questions:

About how long does it take?

What are the best stopping points?

When you get to Mystic, stop by VOODOO's and tell them John from Texas said hello.

I used to live at Steamboat Warf.

Okay, but how many have you made down the eastern seaboard? LoL
Isn't it a little late to go up, or are you ditching the hurricanes?
Safe travels, and enjoy the prime rib at Coinjock Marina.

    Just finished the trip

Well, finally finished up the trip after a total of 8 delay days. 4 days were spent in Charelston have fuel tanks cleaned and retro-fitting Dahl to RACOR filters. Then had 4 days at Great Bridge replacing both cylinders and one feedback unit on the NAIADs.

The boat, a 1990 50' Viking motoryacht burns 62 gph at 2000 rpm and 16 knots (8V92s). However, I convinced the owner that by backing off to 1400 rpm and 10 knots would save him mucho dinero. Not to mention a little less wear and tear on the '92s.

The actual difference in time enroute between 2000rpm and 1400 rpm was about three days underway. However, we realized an actual savings of over $5000 in fuel. Plus, the extra three days meant an additional $1050 in my pocket... so it was a win-win for both the owner and delivery captain.

Average fuel price for the entire trip was $2.88 per gallon with Fort Lauderdale, of course, having the most expensive fuel at $3.50 (Lauderdale Marina) and the least price was at Great Bridge at $2.50 per gallon. I heard from one of my regular bi-annual delivery owners at Barnegat and he indicated the price there was $2.25.

I am spending a couple of days in Mystic for owner orientation and then ready for the assignment.
