    Fiber-optic Solar Cells.

At first I thought this could only have limited use on a motor yacht, but huge benefit on a sail boat if woven into a sail. And of course used in clothing to power personal electronics. But I could see the potential to lay a grid upon the surface of an entire yacht to collect solar power. And probably be woven into tighter weaves on areas such at sunpads or bimini tops. As with most solar options on yachts, it probably wouldn't cover all your electrical needs. But it could offset those needs without actually having to set aside area for a solar panel. The technology obviously has some work involved before it could be commercialized, but i can see lots of potential for the boating and yachting community.

This is very cool! I wonder how it would stand up to being crumpled into a sail locker though.
