Traditional Italian yacht with loads of accommodation and a fabolous main deck.
Falcon are very traditional in construction and equipment. Try to go with 1600hp engines or bigger.
Most Falcon 86 were build to order, though most owners who bought the 86s like a more traditional cherry, mahogany or maple wood interiors.
Was a design of Righini (since 1992 with Azimut) who with Falcon being one of his first design jobs.

Other similar competing boats would be a Maiora 26, slight smaller Sanlorenzo 82, and the Canados 86 (its greatest competitor).

the Canados 86 looks fantastic , but year for year spec for spec, its a lot more expensive than the falcon, and given that you normally get what you pay for, you`d expect its a better boat, but is it ? or is just a case of great looks and great marketing, perhaps someone can share there knowledge

The hull of the Canados 86 (sea handling) is better to that of the Falcon 86, though I would say general workmanship and details (fit and finish) are better on the Falcon.

Falcon where build in Viareggio and knowledgeable boat specialized turnkey finishers are abound in the area. (You have so many builders that your fingers might not be enough).
Canados is in Rome in Ostia, there is a lot of knowledge there but not as much as Viareggio.
The main builders of the area are; Canados, Rizzardi (Posillipo who have the Ostia Marina refit yard) and Alfamarine.

Though the difference is not so bad. Falcon 86 are a wet ride (forward COG) especially with the smaller (that is why I suggested big engines) and in low planning speeds.
