The latest bottom paint being pushed is based on Econea. Interux and Pettit both have their own versions out. From their literature this paint is supposed to be superior to other bottom paints. Of course each brand is also supposed to be better than the other brand. Does anybody have any real world experience with this stuff? Is it better or is it hype? Also supposed to be much friendlier to the environment.

DK this stuff, but every time I've heard that last sentence regarding bottom paint the barnacles were smiling.

    Hi,

The very last sentence on page 13 of the brochure linked to above says: - "The use pattern of the boat impacts the performance of the anti fouling coatings"

Doesn't this ring true for all anti fouling paint?

    It mostly effects ablative.

I've found that hard paint is much superior in limiting growth on the bottom of the boat compared to ablative, no matter how often or little the boat is being used.
