Anyone know if a boat with a 5 ft draft can get through Dover Sound channel at High Tide? Thanks.

I have been through the canal 3 or 4 times in a 50 ft boat drawing 3 1/2 to 4 ft, last time was last year. We have to arrive at Dover Sound/north end of the canal right at high tide, and it is very slow and tense. As I remember, the tide is delayed by maybe 2 hours from the nearest reporting location on the south side of Grand Bahama, so you have to time it very carefully. My Explorer charts are on my boat with the most recent depths, but if it were not a very high, high tide, I would go around West End and play it safe with a 5 ft draft.

If you think it's too shallow it most likely will be and play it safe and take the safe route.
